Julia Lê est une photographe franco-étasunienne d'origine vietnamienne basée entre Paris et Marseille. Sa pratique artistique fait converger récits documentaires, intimes et sensoriels liés aux enjeux de la représentation et de la mémoire. Une grande partie de ses recherches actuelles se concentre sur les expériences diasporiques en rapport au territoire — dans une exploration de ce qui fait famille, foyer, héritage. Elle y développe des travaux visuels et sonores où la création est action commune et où l’histoire devient l’écriture d’un langage décolonial. Elle est lauréate du Prix du Jury 2023 du Festival Planches Contact.
EN_ Julia Lê (b. 1996) is a French-U.S. photographer of Vietnamese origin based in France. Her artistic practice combines sensory, intimate and documentary narratives, addressing issues of representation and collective memory. Much of her present research focuses on diasporic experiences in connection with the territory — exploring the meaning of home, family and legacy. She produces visual and more recently sound works in which she considers creation as a collaborative endeavor and history as the writing of a decolonial language. She is laureate of the 2023 Planches Contact Festival Jury Prize for emerging photographers.
