Julia Lê est une photographe franco-étasunienne d'origine vietnamienne basée à Paris. Sa pratique artistique fait converger récits documentaires, intimes et sensoriels liés aux enjeux de la représentation et de la mémoire. Une grande partie de ses recherches actuelles se concentre sur les diasporas vietnamiennes — dans une exploration de ce qui fait famille, foyer et héritage, et dans une volonté d’adresser l’histoire à travers un regard décolonial qui repense les rapports de force entre l’appareil et celui·celle qui est photographié·e. Ses projets récents l’amènent à développer une réflexion autour du son, de la langue et des histoires qu'elle véhicule. Elle a reçu en 2023 le Prix du Tremplin Jeunes Talents décerné par le Jury du festival Planches Contact sous la présidence de Sarah Moon et la direction de Laura Serani.
EN_ Julia Lê is a French-U.S. photographer of Vietnamese origin, based in Paris, France. Her artistic practice combines sensory, intimate and documentary narratives, addressing issues of representation and collective memory. Much of her present research revolves around the Vietnamese diasporas — exploring the meaning of home, family and legacy, and tackling history through a decolonial gaze that rethinks the power dynamics between the camera and the photographed. In current projects, she incorporates sound creation to her artistic process, in a way that reflects on languages and the tales they carry. Come Rain Come Shine won the 2023 Jury Prize presided by Sarah Moon, as part of the Planches Contact festival's Tremplin Jeunes Talents for emerging photographers, under Laura Serani's guidance.
